|Blessed Sacrament Lamp – Please see the diary
The cost of dedicating the lamp is £3 each week which pays for the candle. Please see Fr Matthew if you wish to book this or have a Mass said.
Parish Visitation – 9th and 10th March 2018. This is really important for us as a parish. Please make every effort to support this weekend and the various activities planned. Sign up sheets for various activities are on the notice board.
|Justice and Peace Group Prayer
O God, who created all people in Your Holy Image walk with those who face discrimination, protect them from harm and help them to see Christ in our community. Guide those who fan the fires of discrimination to open their eyes to the beauty of all your Creation and to respect the human dignity of all people. Open our hearts to those who face hatred and injustice because of their race, their background, or their ethnicity, that we might better help them to belong. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Come Away Lent Retreat- 2nd and 9th April 2019. The sisters of Mater Ecclesiae are kindly hosting this retreat which will focus on the life of St John and the island of Patmos. It will involve watching a video by David Payne which will be followed by discussion and reflection. The sisters will provide afternoon tea. Please sign up at the back of Church.
Mater Ecclesiae Window – We are exploring the possibility of having a stained-glass window in honour of the many years of service of Mater Ecclesiae Convent within our parish. This is in the early stages and we are hoping to have some proposals to look at soon. This will have to be agreed by the Archdiocese, the parish and the sisters. There would be an opportunity to make a donation towards this. Please let Fr Matthew know what you think.
Prayer Group– The group next meets on the first Wednesday of March.
Notices for sheet- Please email Fr Matthew by Thursday if you wish to have a notice placed in this notice sheet.
Planned Giving and Gift Aid– If you would like more information about Gift Aid of setting up a standing order please speak to Helen Dudley or Fr Matthew.
Midweek Masses – Could you support one or more of our Masses during the week as part of your growth in faith? The daily Mass is an important spiritual heartbeat at the centre of any parish and there are many spiritual blessings attached to regular attendance at Mass. Please support the midweek masses. Masses in the week last no longer that 25 minutes and are a good way of giving extra time to God.
Village Café – This takes place from 2 – 4 at the village hall each Thursday. Parishioners from St Joseph’s are always welcome to attend. Fr Matthew is usually there as are a number of others from St Joseph’s and so you will know someone.
Bells – The system is now in place and is being used. The Angelus rings each day at 12 noon and 6pm and we will ring the bells before Mass. There is also a hymn played at 3:25 when the children finish school. There are many options for hymns and tones of bells and so we will experiment over the next few weeks to establish a suitable pattern.
